EIFL in Latvia

EIFL has been working in Latvia since 1999. Through our partnership with the National Library of Latvia, libraries in Latvia are providing access to a wide range of scholarly e-resources. EIFL agreements with publishers also allow authors in Latvia to publish in open access in hybrid or fully open access journals at waived or discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs).

We have also provided training and a support service to raise awareness of library copyright issues, to assist with copyright questions and joined librarians in calling for copyright law amendments.

EIFL supported national and institutional open access awareness raising and advocacy workshops which have resulted in the launch of open access repositories. EIFL also supported advocacy for revisions to the national copyright law to enable libraries to better meet the needs of their end users.

EIFL’s engagement with public libraries in Latvia have resulted in innovative pilot projects that are helping libraries meet the information needs of their communities.
