EIFL has been working in Thailand since 2010. We supported the creation of the consortium Electronic Information for Libraries in Thailand, and through this partnership libraries in Thailand are providing access to a wide range of scholarly e-resources to their users. EIFL agreements with publishers also allow authors in Thailand to publish in open access in hybrid or fully open access journals at discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs).
They also benefit from EIFL programmes, including the EIFL Copyright and Libraries Programme.
We supported advocacy for ratification by Thailand of the Marrakesh Treaty for persons with print disabilities. As a result, Thailand joined the treaty in 2019, and amendments to the copyright law uphold the rights of persons with disabilities to equal access to printed works.
We also contributed to the establishment of the Legislative Institutional Repository of Thailand, which is run by the Parliament.
Since 2021, EIFL has collaborated with EIFL-Thailand in support of projects in Laos and Myanmar.
