In 2013, EIFL won a World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Project Prize for excellence in implementing the WSIS outcomes. EIFL won the prize in the category 'Capacity Building' for the work of the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) which supports public libraries to advance community development.

The presentation, about the work of EIFL-PLIP and the libraries the programme supports, was delivered by EIFL Director Rima Kupryte during the WSIS Forum on May 13-17 2013 in Geneva.
