The Beijing Treaty was adopted in June 2012 by member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and aims to provide legal protection to performers in audiovisual works, for example, actors in motion pictures. Audiovisual works such as motion pictures, television shows, and videotapes of sporting events, lectures and interviews, are an important part of the collections of libraries and archives.

The one hour session set out the background to the Treaty, the key provisions, its likely impact on libraries, provided advice on the policy options available to legislators if the Treaty is adopted into national law, and finished with a Q&A session. The guest speaker was Mr. Jonathan Band J.D, policybandwidth.
