Webinars: To celebrate Open Access Week 2016, EIFL and partners OpenAIRE and COAR (the Confederation of Open Access Repositories) are organizing a series of webinars. 

Open Access Week is an annual, global event established by SPARC in 2008 to raise awareness about open access (OA) and to call for open access to be the new norm in scholarship and research. 

The theme of Open Access Week 2016 is ‘Open in Action’.

OpenAIRE webinars

These take place throughout Open Access Week 2016, and will cover five different topics - one for each day of the week.

  • Monday, 24 October: ‘The Fundamentals of Open Science’. Webinar on key introductory themes in open science, with Tony Ross-Hellauer (OpenAIRE, University of Goettingen), Paola Masuzzo (Ghent University) and Chris Hartgerink (Tilburg University).
     
  • Tuesday, 25 October: ‘H2020 Open Access mandate for project coordinators and researchers’. Webinar on open access to publications in Horizon 2020 (H2020), with Eloy Rodrigues and Pedro Principe (University of Minho).
     
  • Wednesday, 26 October: ‘Open Research Data in H2020 and Zenodo repository’. Webinar on Research Data Management in Horizon 2020 and the Zenodo repository functionalities, with Marjan Grootveld (Data Archiving and Networked Services, DANS) and Krzysztof Nowak (European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN).
     
  • Thursday, 27 October: ‘Policies for Open Science: webinar for research managers and policy makers’. Webinar on OpenAIRE’s policy activities building on the PASTEUR4OA project, and how to create/implement policies for open science at a local and national level, with Marina Angelaki and Alma Swan (PASTEUR4OA) and Tony Ross-Hellauer (OpenAIRE).
     
  • Friday, 28 October: ‘OpenAIRE guidelines and broker service for repository managers’. Webinar on OpenAIRE compatibility guidelines and the dashboard for repository managers, with Pedro Principe (University of Minho) and Paolo Manghi (Institute of the National Research Council of Italy, CNR/ISTI).

TIME: All webinars take place at 10.00 GMT / 11.00 CET / 12.00 CEST. Recordings and slides will be made available after each webinar.

COAR webinar

  • Tuesday, 25 October: ‘Next Generation Repositories’. Webinar on institutional open access repositories and their future potential. 

TIME: To encourage participation by people from several different regions, the webinar will be live-streamed twice, at 8.00 GMT / 9.00 CET / 10.00 CEST, and at 15.00 GMT / 16.00 CET / 17.00 CEST.
