University of Cape Town (UCT) Libraries, in collaboration with the Research Office, will be hosting the Research Week (lib.uct.ac.za/blog/news/research-week-12-16-may/) from Monday, 12 May until Friday, 16 May 2014.

EIFL-OA Programme Manager Iryna Kuchma has been invited to speak (via Skype) at the Open Access (OA) panel discussion addressing broad principles of OA from an international perspective, as well as the impact of publishing research output in OA. Other speakers will include A/Prof Laura Czerniewicz (openuct.uct.ac.za OpenUCT) who will speak about UCT’s OA policy and about OA from a national perspective highlighting the growth of OA and its contribution to knowledge production is Africa. Ina Smith (Stellenbosch University, SU) will address OA from an institutional perspective and will talk about the research content in SUNScholar - OA institutional repository and the visibility and impact of that as well as about SU OA publishing platform and its impact.
