Public librarians who have completed training-of-trainers programmes organized by the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) team and partners in Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Uganda and Zambia are invited to attend this ‘T-break’, that will continue our discussions on the digital literacy skills training for youth theme. The T-break will include time for questions and answers, feedback and sharing of good practices.
You will meet guest speaker Ms Ivy Kabura Nganga, a researcher who worked with the Western Cape Government, South Africa, advising on public sector innovation. Ivy is currently based in Germany as a German Chancellor 2024/2025 Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Fraunhofer Institute. Ivy will share insights and learnings from her research project ‘Libraries for Africa’s Digital Future: Investigating the Potential of Public Libraries as Change Agents for Digital Skills Development in South Africa’s Youth Unemployment Crisis’.
The aim of the T-breaks (T stands for trainers) is to refresh the trainers’ knowledge, share practical experiences and to build a local and cross-border support network of public library trainers. Since 2017, EIFL has trained 62 public librarians in Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Uganda and Zambia to become trainers, and they have cascaded the training to over 2,300 librarians in their countries.
