Gabès Higher Institute of Management / Institut Supérieur de Gestion de Gabès in Tunisia has initiated a project that will help to secure a long term future for the bilingual (English / French) peer-reviewed Diamond open access Journal of Academic Finance by ensuring its sustainability, while continuing to improve its quality, impact and visibility.

The Journal of Academic Finance publishes theoretical, empirical, and critical texts focusing on one or more aspects of finance worldwide. It is managed by the Laboratory of  Research on Enterprise and Decisions, a research institute within the Higher Institute of Management of the University of Gabès.

The ‘Sustainability and Visibility of the Journal of Academic Finance' project will build the capacity of editorial staff, ensuring that a deputy editor-in-chief takes over the management of the journal when the current Chief Editor retires.

The project will build cohesion among the team of editorial assistants who come from different countries - Cameroon, Morocco and Tunisia. It will improve the editorial team’s understanding of the uses and impact of AI in academic journal publishing and enhance the quality of the journal through acquisition of anti-plagiarism software and a dedicated computer equipped with anti-virus software for the journal. To improve visibility, the journal will apply for indexing in relevant indexing services.

The project is among 30 that have received grant support through a three-year project to strengthen no-fee open access publishing in Africa implemented by EIFL, AJOL (African Journals Online) and WACREN (the West and Central African Research and Education Network), with funding from Wellcome.
