EIFL has signed a three-year agreement with ASTM International to give library consortia and institutions in 34 EIFL partner countries free access to an abstract-only version of ASTM Compass. In addition, institutions and consortia in these countries are eligible for a heavily-discounted subscription to the full-text version of ASTM Compass.

ASTM Compass is a collection of standards and other technical engineering information, including 1,700 technical e-books, eight journals and assorted research information. Ninety percent of the Times Higher Education's Top 100 universities have access to ASTM Compass; it is a useful resource for technical universities, libraries or research institutes, and is used by undergraduate students, professors, staff, postgraduates students and researchers. Students with a knowledge and understanding of engineering standards have a real advantage over those who do not. Standards are the foundation of most of the engineering industry sectors they will be joining when they begin their careers.

The agreement runs until December 2019 and is open to institutions and consortia in 34 EIFL partner countries:

Algeria, Angola, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Cambodia, Congo, Estonia, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, Kenya, Kosovo, Laos, Latvia, Lesotho, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malawi, Maldives, Moldova, Namibia, Nepal, Palestine, Poland, Senegal, Serbia, Slovenia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Institutions that are interested in obtaining access to this content should contact the EIFL Licensing Programme coordinator in their country, who will send them documentation to complete.
