Nakuru, Kenya
Trainees who took part in the first round of EIFL-KNLS mobile information literacy training in March 2018.

Three Kenya National Library Service (KNLS) staff members who recently received mobile information literacy training organized by EIFL will pass on their skills to 12 ICT officers from KNLS libraries.

The ICT officers are responsible for managing and maintaining digital technology in KNLS libraries, and for developing technology skills of librarians and library users. Mobile information literacy is the use of mobile devices to access and share e-resources and information. The 12 trainees will also learn training skills to enable them to pass on their mobile information literacy skills to colleagues and community members.

The three KNLS staff members who will conduct the training are: Raymond Chepkwony of Nairobi Area Public Library; Michael Kazungu of Kwale Public Library, and Sarah Ogembo from KNLS headquarters. Nyasha Sithole of Masiphumelele Community Library in Cape Town, South Africa, will work with the trainees to review and further develop a computer literacy training curriculum to address needs of different target groups in KNLS libraries.

The training is part of an EIFL-KNLS initiative to strengthen continued professional development of public librarians in Kenya.
