Brussels, Belgium

EIFL Open Access Programme Manager Iryna Kuchma will demonstrate useful Data Management Planning tools at this FOSTER (Facilitating Open Science Training for European Research) training for Research Executive Agency (REA) project officers of the European Commission (EC).

The training will provide practical skills in Data Management Planning (DMP) and Open Access (OA) in the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 (H2020) programme. In addition, the training will enable REA project officers to help their colleagues to perform basic DMP assessments and to answer the most common questions from H2020 beneficiaries.

Kuchma will demonstrate tools such as DMPonline, re3data, FAIRsharing and OpenAIRE tools.

Daniel Spichtinger of the EC’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation will speak about the policy context – open science, OA and open data in H2020 and the European Research Area. Jarkko Siren of the REA will share lessons from REA on implementation. Sarah Jones, of the Digital Curation Centre, will speak about research data management and assessment of DMPs.

Jones and Kuchma, together with EIFL OA Programme Coordinator Gwen Franck and Eloy Rodrigues of Minho University, will lead a session on practical DMP assessment using the REA assessment grid.

EIFL is one of 11 FOSTER project partners working together to create training and e-learning activities targeting academic staff, early career researchers and policy-makers.
